Honored to have welcomed the Garden City High School German Club to the Theodore Roosevelt Executive Building last week for German Heritage Day!

Representing County Executive Bruce Blakeman, it was a pleasure to host such an enthusiastic group of students and celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of the German-American community right here in Nassau County.

A joint effort between myself, County
Executive Bruce Blakeman, NYS Assemblyman Ed Ra and
Hempstead Town Supervisor John Ferretti will result in the
addition of a Law Enforcement Monument at Rath Park in
Franklin Square and help upgrade the existing VFW and
9/11 memorials.

The monument will serve as a lasting tribute to law
enforcement officers who have dedicated their lives to
protect our community and will complement the current VFW
Memorial that was constructed in the 1970’s and the 9/11
Memorial that was built after September 11, 2001. The Law
Enforcement Monument project will include new lighting to
illuminate the entire area during evening hours, benches, flag
poles and a walkway to connect all three memorials.

What an unforgettable evening at the Garden City Historical Society’s Gilded Age Gala, hosted on the magnificent, historic grounds of the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Surrounded by stunning 19th-century architecture, community leaders, and history enthusiasts, guests celebrated our local heritage in style.
