Remember, vegetation can dry out quickly under hot and dry conditions, leaving it susceptible to ignitions. To help prevent wildfires and protect your property, take action now with these important tips:

1️⃣ Maintain defensible space: Create a buffer zone around your home by clearing vegetation and combustible materials. Keep a minimum of 30 feet of space around structures, and clear out dead plants, leaves, and debris regularly.
2️⃣ Trim vegetation: Trim tall grasses, shrubs, and bushes regularly to reduce fuel for potential fires.
3️⃣ Dispose of debris properly: Remove dead leaves, branches, and other yard waste promptly. Don't let them accumulate near your property or in proximity to structures.
4️⃣ Manage your landscape: Use fire-resistant plants and materials in your landscaping. Choose plants that are less likely to ignite easily, such as succulents, low-growing ground covers, and native drought-tolerant species. Maintain proper spacing between plants to prevent the rapid spread of fire.
5️⃣ Maintain your roof and gutters: Regularly clean your roof and gutters to remove dry leaves, pine needles, and other debris. Embers from a nearby fire can ignite these materials and quickly spread to your home.
6️⃣ Secure outdoor storage: Keep firewood and other flammable materials at least 30 feet away from structures. Store them in covered, fire-resistant containers or enclosures.
7️⃣ Practice safe outdoor activities: If you enjoy outdoor activities such as grilling or using fire pits, make sure to do so in designated areas and follow local regulations. Always fully extinguish fires and dispose of ashes properly.
8️⃣ Be cautious with machinery and equipment: When using machinery that generates heat or sparks, such as lawnmowers or chainsaws, avoid doing so during dry and windy conditions.
9️⃣ Report potential hazards: If you notice hazardous conditions or potential fire risks, such as uncontrolled burns or damaged power lines, report them immediately to the local authorities or utility companies.
🔟 Be prepared: Create a wildfire evacuation plan, assemble an emergency kit, and stay informed about local fire conditions through reliable sources.

Preventing wildfires is a collective effort, so it's crucial to be vigilant, follow safety guidelines, and encourage others in your community to do the same.
