MinCon: Comic Con at the Mineola Library

After careful consideration, unfortunately, the decision has been made to not move forward with the Mineola Library's MinCon event in 2023. This is due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. A future date has not been set at this time, but we are currently working hard on new events to bring to our community in the future. Thank you for your understanding.

Our next guest for MinCon 2023 is movie and TV makeup artist, Karen Gebbia.

Karen Gebbia started her career in theatrical makeup and design, creating prosthetics and wig work for numerous theatrical productions. Later on she advanced into fashion and editorial projects, participating in over 20 NY Fashion Weeks since 2013. Ultimately she branched out to TV, video and film work for many productions from commercials to full length feature films and music videos.

Today you can find her at NY Academy Makeup, the makeup school she founded in 2018. There she is the director of education preparing students to have accomplished makeup careers. She helps students to acquire internships on movie sets, in the fashion world and in the beauty industry.

She and her assistant will be running a "Disney Villains and Princesses" makeup class during MinCon at 11:00AM-1:00PM. They will help participants create either a Princess Elsa look or a Maleficent look, with a photoshoot after.

We welcome voice actor Mike Po***ck as MinCon 2023's guest of honor!

Mike Po***ck is one of New York's premier animation voice-over actors. Saturday morning cartoon viewers of Cartoon Network might recognize him as the voice of Dr. Eggman in Sonic Boom, and the Sonic the Hedgehog video games. Old-school viewers of FOX and The CW might recognize his voice as Meat in Ultimate Muscle:The Kinnikuman Legacy, the Mayor and Samo, the bartender, in Kirby: Right Back At Ya!, Garbageman on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dr. Eggman and Ella on Sonic X, Bigoriki in Gogoriki, and Langston Lickatoad in Viva Piñata. He's also been heard as Daddy in Caillou’s New Adventures, Bonaparte in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX on Cartoon Network, the interim narrator in Pokémon, Beast in the Marvel Motion comic adaptation of Astonishing X-Men, and Adon in Berserk.

Join him in the Mineola Library's Ann C. Hurley Community Room on the lower level, on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 12 noon for his Q&A panel!
