REMINDER:

Local weather services are forecasting snow this Sunday, February 22 into Monday.

Village snow regulations take effect anytime two inches of snow has fallen.

Once two inches of snow has fallen, all vehicles must be removed from all streets within the Village for 24 hours or until plowing is completed. Vehicles may be parked in any Village municipal lot.

Please remember when shoveling, plowing, or blowing snow from sidewalks and driveways, snow may not be placed into streets. Snow should be placed on grass areas of your own property. Blowing snow into streets hampers plowing and may create frozen hazards after plowing is completed.

Also, if your property is adjacent to a fire hydrant, please clear snow from around the hydrant to allow access in the event of an emergency on your block.

If you have not already enrolled in the Village’s notification system to receive email and/or text message reminders, select the Subscribe to Notifications button on the Village website at www.mineola-ny.gov.

If you were thinking about participating in a “takeover”, take a minute and think again.

The Nassau County Police Department is aware of “takeovers” — large gatherings at malls and shopping centers that may lead to disturbances and criminal activity.

We want to be very clear: there is ZERO tolerance for this type of behavior here in Nassau County.

Anyone involved in illegal activity will be investigated, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We are trained and equipped to handle these types of incidents, and deploy resources strategically to address them if they arise. The best way to avoid consequences is to stay away from these types of gatherings.
