Yesterday, Mineola celebrated America's 250th birthday in true hometown style! 🇺🇸

It was an afternoon and evening filled with the very best of America—hot dogs, ice cream, sports, music, history, fireworks, great friends, and plenty of patriotic pride. Most of all, it was a celebration of what makes our community special: neighbors coming together in unity.

A heartfelt thank you to all the members of the Mineola Auxiliary Police Department who were there to help salute, secure, and serve, ensuring everyone could enjoy a safe and memorable celebration.

And a special welcome to one of our newest members, Tom—we're happy to have you aboard! 🇺🇸👏

This morning, Lieutenant Regis Gallet of the Mineola Auxiliary Police Department was stationed at the stop sign leading into the train station parking area to help promote pedestrian safety during the busy commuter rush.

Unfortunately, this is a location where stop sign violations occur far too often, creating a hazard for commuters crossing to and from the train station. Our presence this morning served as a visible reminder for motorists to slow down, remain alert, and obey traffic control devices.

We are pleased to report that our presence made a noticeable difference, with significantly improved compliance and a safer environment for pedestrians. The safety of our residents and commuters remains our top priority, and we will continue to work alongside our law enforcement partners to help keep our community safe.

Please remember: Stop means stop. A few extra seconds can prevent a tragedy.

Yesterday, Mineola Auxiliary Police Officers Antonio Cice and John Li Zhang had the pleasure of visiting the students of Jackson Avenue School to talk about safety, emergencies, and how police officers help protect and serve the community.

The children had a chance to learn about what to do in emergency situations, how to safely interact with police officers, and even got an up-close look at some of the equipment and vehicles we use every day.

It was a fun and meaningful experience for everyone involved, and we want to thank the students, teachers, and staff at Jackson Avenue School for such a warm welcome and great participation. The smiles, questions, and excitement from the kids made the day truly special.

Community connections like these help build trust, understanding, and confidence — and we were honored to spend the day with the next generation of our community. 🚔💙

Last night, Lieutenant Regis Gallet and Officer Doug Egbert of the Mineola Auxiliary Police Department were honored to lead the procession for the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima at Corpus Christi Church. It was a truly beautiful and meaningful evening, and seeing so many people gathered together in faith and reflection was something special. Thank you to everyone who took part in this wonderful tradition.
