On Friday night, Nassau County Marine Bureau responded to a report of a 62-foot vessel with eight passengers on board in the vicinity of Success Rock that was taking on water. The Town of North Hempstead Bay Constables, US Coast Guard, Rye Police Department Marine Bureau and the FDNY Marine Bureau all responded to assist at scene. All passengers were safely brought back to shore by Nassau County Marine 3. No injuries were reported. TowBoat US responded to tow the vessel.

We want to be very clear: there is ZERO tolerance for this type of behavior here in Nassau County.

Anyone involved in illegal activity will be investigated, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We are trained and equipped to handle these types of incidents and deploy resources strategically to address them if they arise. The best way to avoid consequences is to stay away from these types of gatherings.

Last week, NCPD received a 911 call for an injured, young Osprey that had fallen out of its nest in North Hills. Officers were able to safely secure the bird. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was contacted, and the Osprey was safely transported by a New York State and Federally licensed, wildlife rehabilitator to a rehabilitation facility where it will be treated for its injuries and then released back into the wild. 🚓
