New protections for animal welfare have officially been enacted in Nassau County.

No pet should be left outside overnight in extreme weather or unsafe conditions. This legislation strengthens safeguards by addressing improper tethering, protecting vulnerable animals—including puppies, nursing mothers, and those that are sick or injured—and preventing situations where restrained animals may pose a danger to one another.

Importantly, the law also establishes meaningful consequences for repeated or serious violations.

At its core, this measure reflects a simple principle: animals should be treated safely and humanely.

Had a great time returning to my alma mater, Wantagh High School, to celebrate five outstanding young women from Wantagh and Seaford who earned the Girl Scouts Gold Award—the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to service are truly inspiring, and they are already making a meaningful impact in our community. Congratulations to Lily Nicoletti, Reese McCarthy, Madelyn Rothstein, Victoria Stebner, and Katie Elizabeth Padavan on this incredible accomplishment.

Joined by Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips, Councilman Chris Schneider, Shannon Fredericks (representing Assemblyman Dave McDonough), and Kelly Sepa-Reicherter (representing Senator Steve Rhoads).

It was a pleasure to join the Levittown Chamber of Commerce in welcoming Block Party to the Levittown community for their ribbon cutting. This exciting new business is already making a great impression, offering a fun and engaging space for families, from LEGO sets to events and birthday celebrations.

Local businesses like this play an important role in bringing our community together, creating places where families can connect and children can simply enjoy being kids. Wishing the Block Party team continued success as they grow here in Levittown.

Happy Arbor Day to our incredible community!

From our parks to our neighborhoods, trees are a vital part of what makes our county such a beautiful place to live.

Today, we celebrate that natural heritage and recommit to preserving it for generations to come.
Let’s keep growing together.

It was a pleasure to attend Seaford PAL Lacrosse’s “War on the Shore” at Seaman’s Neck Park this past weekend. Long Island’s strong lacrosse tradition was on full display, and it was great to see so many young athletes competing and enjoying the day.

This weekend featured the girls’ tournament, with the boys’ competition to follow next month. Thank you to the coaches, volunteers, and families whose time and dedication make events like this possible.

Joined by TOH Clerk Kate Murray, Councilman Chris Schneider, and Shannon Fredericks representing Assemblyman John Mikulin.

Long Island families already pay some of the highest property taxes in the country to support our schools. Now Democrats in Albany are pushing a rushed mandate to switch to electric school buses without fully funding it. At roughly $400,000 per bus, plus up to $140,000 more for charging infrastructure, this decision could cost billions statewide and millions for school districts throughout Nassau County. That burden won’t fall on Albany—it falls on taxpayers. Every dollar spent on unfunded mandates is a dollar taken away from classrooms, teachers, and students. We all want cleaner transportation, but it needs to be done at a pace that’s realistic and affordable.
