On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 1504 hours, a Miner officer responded to a local hotel, in reference to a 911 hang up. Subsequent additional 911 calls and calls to the front desk directed the officer to a room on the third floor. After attempting contact, the officer heard large crashes and banging sounds in the room which sounded like someone attempting to barricade the door with furniture or other items.

A female caller from inside the room reported a male was barricading the door and would not allow her to leave. Additional officers from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to assist. Entry was gained into the room, and it was confirmed several large furniture items had been used to barricade the door.

An uncooperative male subject was located inside the room who appeared to officers to be under the influence of drugs. An adult female and a juvenile were also located inside the room. The male subject resisted arrest but was taken into custody and later transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The male subject was also in possession of approximately 2 grams of a substance which field tested positive for Fentanyl.

A probable cause affidavit was completed and submitted to the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. Formal charges were filed through the Scott County Circuit Court and a warrant issued for Christopher T. Jackson (42) of Sikeston for the charges of Trafficking Drugs Second Degree, Kidnapping Second Degree (2 Counts), Endangering the Welfare of a Child First Degree, Resisting Arrest Felony, Property Damage First Degree, Assault Fourth Degree (2 Counts), with no bond. The Miner Police Department would like to thank the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Sikeston Department of Public Safety for their assistance during this incident.
