Don't miss this talk tomorrow at 1pm on "Residents of 'Wisconsin' in the American Revolution" by author Mary Elise Antoine out at our sister site First Capitol.

Don't miss author Mary Elise Antoine's talk this Saturday at 1pm! Mary will be talking about "Residents of 'Wisconsin' in the American Revolution."

In the mid-18th century, the residents of the land now called Wisconsin lived far from the British colonies ranged along the Atlantic Ocean. But whether Native American or Euro-American, these residents were well-informed. When the Thirteen Colonies declared their independence from Great Britain, the residents of the western Great Lakes and upper Mississippi were involved in the resulting conflict. From the invasion of Canada in 1775 to the Battle of Saratoga in 1777 to the attack on St. Louis in 1780, residents of “Wisconsin” were active participants.

Learn who, how, and why these residents were part of the American Revolution and the effects of the Revolution on “Wisconsin.”

We have a new project happening on Shake Rag Street! If you've been by the site recently you may have noticed our roofing project that started this week. Polperro's old cedar shake roof and gutters have been removed and preparations are being made for the new one to be installed. A waterproof layer has been laid down (and tested in Thursday's and Friday's rain!) while the cedar shakes continue to dry out for the next couple of weeks or so before they are put on.

We had the best time on Saturday with Kathleen Ernst, Author at our Cornish Tea! Kathleen discussed her book, Mining for Justice, a Chloe Ellefson Mystery set at Pendarvis Historic Site. Guests enjoyed a Cornish tea -- including saffron cake, mini pasties, and scones -- while hearing from Kathleen about her writing process and the history that inspired her at Pendarvis. A tour and book signing with the author rounded out the afternoon.

Thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed a beautiful Saturday afternoon with us!

We are open for the 2026 season! Tours are Thursdays - Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

A huge thanks to all of the Mineral Point Cummins Inc employees who came to Pendarvis this morning to help us get the gardens ready for opening day. Volunteers did a lot of weeding and mulching and transformed a large part of our site that receives all of our visitors. Thanks again!
