As co-founder of The 134 PAC, I've had a lot of conversations about PACs and the role they play in politics.

Unfortunately, there's also a lot of misunderstanding about what PACs are and what they do.

I wrote this blog post to help explain the purpose of PACs, why The 134 PAC was created, and why not all PACs should be viewed through the same lens.

The 134 PAC will be at the Texas Democratic Party State Convention in Corpus Christi on June 26–27, and we’re opening up scheduled booth participation opportunities for rural Democratic candidates throughout convention weekend.

This is an opportunity to connect with delegates, organizers, activists, and Democratic leaders from across Texas while increasing visibility for your campaign in a welcoming rural-focused space.

I wrote this blog post this morning from the heart.

I hope it’s received in the spirit it’s intended, because I truly believe this is an important conversation for all of us, especially those of us who care deeply about rural Texas and the future of our communities.

I’m not posting this to argue with anyone or create more division. Quite honestly, I think we already have enough of that. I’m posting it because I think it’s time we remember our true purpose: helping people, building relationships, and working together toward something bigger than ourselves.

I’m here to listen. I may not always agree with every perspective, and I don’t expect everyone to agree with mine, but I do believe we have far more that unites us than divides us.

I’d love to know your thoughts, and I hope we can approach this conversation with kindness, respect, and a little grace for one another.

We are proud to welcome Ramon Aranda Rodríguez as the new Regional Director for The 134 PAC in the Big Bend region of Texas, including Marfa and Presidio.

Ramon has been doing this work for years. He understands rural Texas, shows up for his community, and knows that relationships are what make this work possible. We’ve had the opportunity to work alongside him, including at our Rural Texas Summit in Bastrop, and we’re excited to continue building together.

This role is part of a bigger vision. We are building a stronger rural Texas by investing in local leadership, strengthening connections between communities, and supporting organizing that lasts.

You will be able to meet Ramon and the rest of our team at the Texas Democratic Party Convention in Corpus Christi this June. Stop by our booth and learn more about what we are building.

The 134 PAC | Rural Texas Strong

At The 134 PAC, we believe that rural Texas matters. Our communities matter. And the voices of the people who live, work, and lead here deserve to be heard at every level of the Democratic Party.

As most know...We are a grassroots organization focused on supporting, connecting, and strengthening rural Democrats across Texas. That means helping county parties grow, supporting candidates who understand rural issues, and making sure no county is left behind in the political process.

We see the work happening across rural Texas every single day, and we want you to know it does not go unnoticed. Whether you are organizing meetings, block walking, serving as a precinct chair, or simply showing up and staying engaged, you are the backbone of this movement. We are grateful for you.

Tomorrow is County Convention Day.

County conventions are one of the most important steps in our democratic process. This is where grassroots voices come together to:

✅️Elect delegates who will represent your county at the State Convention
✅️Submit and discuss resolutions that help shape the Texas Democratic Party platform
✅️Build connections and strengthen local organizing efforts

What happens at your county convention does not stay local. It moves forward to the State Convention, where those delegates and resolutions help shape the future direction of our party across Texas.

If you have never attended before, we strongly encourage you to go. You belong in that room.

And if you have questions about the process, delegates, or resolutions, The 134 PAC is always here to help. We believe in making this process accessible, understandable, and welcoming to everyone.

Rural Texas showed up and last night was proof that our voices matter!!

Last night was a big win and an exciting moment for all of us at The 134 PAC.

Our early endorsement of James Talarico was more than just a political decision. It was a belief in a leader who understands that the future of Texas includes rural communities, not just the big cities. Seeing that momentum build and watching the results come in last night was incredibly encouraging.

To everyone who volunteered, organized, made calls, sent texts, showed up to events, and supported this effort across rural Texas...thank you. Your hard work is what makes moments like this possible.

Let’s take a moment to exhale and appreciate what we’ve accomplished together.

Then it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work.

The 134 PAC is proud to continue supporting and working alongside James Talarico, and we’re excited about the work ahead as we keep building stronger Democratic communities across rural Texas.
