Preservation Ordinance Moved to City Council Meeting on October 5, 2026

The Mineral Wells City Council, which was previously scheduled to consider the proposed historic preservation ordinance on September 15, will now do so at its next meeting on October 5, 2026. The draft ordinance was revised to reflect community feedback at the end of August, the City needs sufficient time to incorporate comments from the Texas Historical Commission’s Certified Local Government program and complete review by the City Attorney prior to the September 15 meeting.

The community is invited to attend the City Council meeting on October 5, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at City Council chambers (115 SW 1st Avenue). The meeting will be live-streamed on the City website for those who cannot attend in person and also will be recorded for viewing later.

📢 Last Play Day at West City Park! 🛝

Join us TODAY at 5:00 PM for one last play day on the playground before its transformation! We’ll have FREE popsicles for families to enjoy while making a few more memories. 🍭

The playground will close for renovations beginning Tuesday, September 8, so be sure to spend Labor Day weekend making a few more memories on the playground that has served our community since 1996.

Please note that only the playground area will be closed. The rest of West City Park, including the skatepark, will remain open and accessible to the public.

Come play, cool off with a popsicle, and celebrate the end of an era before we welcome an exciting new chapter! 💚
