Beth Watson, Mineral Wells City Council I have represented Ward 3 on the
Mineral Wells City Council since May 2018. Currently serving as Mayor Pro Tem. Pol. Ad. Beth Henary Watson They are all awesome.

Priorities: Water, Public Safety, Parks & Library, Opportunity. I have served as the Ward 3 Councilwoman for Mineral Wells since May 2018. I was re-elected in 2020 and 2022. Ward 3 is all of NW Mineral Wells, plus some of SW and NE. However, those boundaries are secondary to making good decisions that affect the community as a whole. Projects I am passionate about having worked on include:

- Econ

omic development reform, via a community-based task force
- Hotel Occupancy Tax committee, to modernize the relationship between our visitor bureau contractor and the city
- Police chief finalist interview committee
- WATER SUPPLY - participate in meetings of regional and local leaders at mayor's discretion. Held my own listening session on proposed new water rates. I am committed to sharing my thoughts on this page and make every effort to provide information about key issues. My professional and civic background gives me appropriate experience for this role. I hold a master's degree in public administration from UT Arlington. I earned this degree while serving as the Executive Director of the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce, a position I held for 6 years. While at the Chamber, I also earned a certification in organizational management from the US Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of the Texas Association of Business. While I worked at the Chamber, our team developed several quality programs that still serve the community: the Crazy Fossil Dig, Shop Local and Win, and the State of the Community Luncheon. As a volunteer in our area, I worked on a 2014 campaign to direct sales tax dollars toward economic development, to improve our community competitiveness. I have also served on the CASA Hope for Children Board of Directors and am a member of the Rotary Club. For the last 10 years I have been a team member at Corner Post Financial Planning. I am a Certified Financial Planner(TM) professional and maintain securities and insurance licenses. I work with clients in their journeys toward achieving financial security. I grew up in Memphis, TN, where my Mom still lives. My Texas adventure began when I was 18, when I chose to attend UT Austin because they waived my out of state tuition (it really was the deciding factor!). I graduated from UT with Honors. I have been married to Steve Watson for 20 years and we have two elementary-aged kids, Winston and Victoria. I also have a twin sister and a sister who is 11 years younger. Look at this!

We had 20 coding campers at Boyce Ditto Public Library who coded 3 of their very own video games in 3 days!

That's 6 hours of computer science per kid.

They used:

- loops
- conditional statements
- operators (greater than/less than)
- events
- x/y axis coordinates
- degrees of rotation
- animations

Here are some of our certificants!

We had kids from Houston, Travis, Inspire: An Acton Academy, and homeschool!

Next stop: the fast-paced Bolt Camp (more advanced). Sign up today by calling the library. Spaces in that one are limited.

(I also gave myself a certificate because I survived!)

It has been a challenge facilitating this but I am thankful to the library staff for their hands-on assistance and expertise.

It was a good day at the library! Groundbreaking for the Willie Casper Storybook Park, featuring a story trail and natural play equipment as well as an outdoor learning area.

Friends of the Library donated $100,000 for the project's play equipment, in addition to the funds provided by the estate of the late mayor Col. Willie Casper and the City of Mineral Wells' sale of the Old Post Office.

The library has several coding camps this summer, from K-2 to "advanced" (intro to Python).

I will be teaching intro to Scratch (more advanced users welcome, too).

We will be making 3 games in 3 days using introductory coding concepts!

Kids who are interested in making their own video games are the ideal participants (ages 8+).

A local state of disaster has been declared in Mineral Wells. Emergency measures are now in effect as we respond to storm damage. Please stay clear of impacted areas and follow official updates.

Curfew Notice:
(a) A person shall not remain or travel upon any public or private property in the following area(s) Energy Avenue (Country Club Estates) to the west, US Highway 180 to the south, Washington Avenue to the east, and Beletta Drive to the north. All of these areas are within the Fort Wolters area between the hours from 10:00 p.m. on April 28, 2026, until 06:00 a. m. on April 29th, 2026; and thereafter, nightly, from 08:00 p.m. until 06:00 a.m. until further notice.

Weatherford Democrat reporting seems to suggest that the Parker County Sheriff's Department brings unhoused persons to Mineral Wells and drops them off, calling it a "service" to the individual.

What do our residents think?

"[Mineral Wells Police Chief] Denison and Weeks also said they have asked the Weatherford Department and Parker County Sheriff’s Office to stop bringing homeless people from their jurisdictions to Mineral Wells.

Denison said the jurisdictions to the east did not acknowledge their officers were taking unhoused people to Mineral Wells but had said they would discuss the issue with officers.

Neither city has a shelter for homeless people.

Parker County Sheriff’s spokesman Shane Cartwright said Friday that deputies who encounter someone who has no permanent address often are told they are headed to Abilene or farther west.

“But it’s not reasonable to take them that far west, and we’ll take them to Mineral Wells,” Cartwright said. “It’s not to say, we’re taking the homeless to the next town west. If we’re able to help them get down the road to where they are going or the next closest town, we’ll provide that service.”
