Please be advised that the 14th due date printed on the water utility bill was an error.
Water utility bills are due on the 19th of each month. If the 19th falls on a weekend or holiday, the bill will be due on the next business day.

THANK YOU, MINGO JUNCTION!
What a wonderful weekend for our community!
We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make Community Days this past Friday and Saturday possible and such a great success.
First, thank you to all of our generous donors and sponsors. Your support helped make this event possible. Without your generosity and willingness to give back to our community, we could not have pulled it off.

To everyone who helped plan, organize, and coordinate Community Days — thank you for the countless hours, hard work, and dedication that went into bringing everything together.

A very special thank you to our Village employees who stepped up and helped wherever they were needed, including our:

Service Department
Water Department
Fire Department
Police Department

Your hard work before, during, and after the event did not go unnoticed. Thank you!

Thank you to all of the vendors who came out and participated, and to the entertainers who kept everyone smiling and having a good time.

To our volunteers who worked throughout the days to manage activities, assist wherever needed, and keep things running smoothly — we appreciate every one of you.

And most importantly, thank you to our community.
You came out, supported the event, visited the vendors, enjoyed the entertainment, spent time with friends and neighbors, and helped make Community Days what it was meant to be — a celebration of Mingo Junction and the people who call it home.
An event like this doesn’t happen because of one person or one group. It happens when a community comes together.

IN RE: TRANSPARENCY ON MR.TURNER LETTER

The letter speaks for itself. At no time did I demand that Mr. Turner give up his property or suggest the Village was taking it.
The purpose of the letter was to ask whether he would be interested in being considered for a demolition grant the Village is pursuing for long-vacant, blighted properties. Participation would be entirely voluntary, and I made it clear that if he was not interested, I completely understood.

As Mayor, part of my responsibility is to explore every possible option to improve our community while respecting property owners' rights. Asking someone if they would like to consider an opportunity is not the same as requiring them to do so.
I respect Mr. Turner’s investment and the vision he originally had for the property. My letter acknowledged that and offered an option after nearly a decade of vacancy and continued deterioration. If he chooses not to participate, that is entirely his decision, and I respect that.

I believe respectful communication and exploring solutions are part of good leadership, and that is exactly what this letter was intended to do.

Dear Mr. Turner,
I hope this letter finds you well.
I am writing regarding the former Junior High School property located at 110 Steuben Street. I understand that when you purchased the property, you envisioned cleaning it up, renovating the building, and ultimately finding a productive use for it. I appreciate your willingness to invest in the property.
Unfortunately, after years of vacancy, extensive vandalism, and the loss of much of its electrical and plumbing systems, I recognize that the scope and cost of restoring the building may have become overwhelming. The condition of the structure has continued to deteriorate, posing a significant safety concern and an ongoing nuisance for the Village.

The Village of Mingo Junction is currently pursuing demolition grant funding to address several blighted properties throughout the community. As part of that effort, I wanted to reach out to see if you would be interested in including your property in the grant application.

While demolition costs are difficult to estimate without engineering and contractor evaluations, we believe the cost to demolish the building could be approximately $350,000, depending on site conditions. If the property were included and the grant awarded, the Village would be required to provide matching funds. Because of that investment, ownership of the property would need to be transferred if the Village were awarded the grant, and before demolition.

Please understand that this letter is not intended to diminish your investment or your original plans for the property. Rather, it is simply an effort to present an option that may benefit both you and the Village by addressing a structure that has become increasingly difficult to restore.

I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you and hear your thoughts. If this is something you would be willing to consider, please get in touch with me at your convenience. If not, I certainly understand and appreciate your taking the time to consider the proposal.
