Mingo Junction Career Firefighters

Tonight crews attended two separate Trunk or Treat events in the village. One was held at Hills Elementary and the other was with Mingo Junction Police Department at Aracoma Park. We really enjoyed seeing all the amazing costumes!

Yesterday off duty personnel played in the First Responder Slug Fest. This was a charity event to raise money for DLR Mustang Ranch to help with their mission to combat PTSD in veterans and first responders. While we did not win the tournament it was a good time for a good cause.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT, MINGO JUNCTION & JEFFERSON COUNTY!

Good afternoon to all of our citizens, families, and Facebook friends!

We have a REALLY BIG announcement to make!

After several months of planning, conversations, and working together as a team to create something positive and meaningful for the youth of Jefferson County, we are proud to announce the beginning of the FIRST Police Explorer Program in Jefferson County — “Police & Community”!

This program is about much more than law enforcement. It is about building relationships, developing leadership, creating opportunities, teaching responsibility, and helping our young people see a positive future for themselves and their community.

If you want to see a difference, BE the difference you want to see.
Move forward. Be part of the change. Help us build a stronger future for Jefferson County — together.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR OUR FIRST “30”EXPLORERS!

The program is open to ALL youth who live in Jefferson County, ages 14–18.

Enrollment Fee: $100

• $80 will go toward the Explorer’s uniform
• $20 will go toward their Safety Cadet fee
• The Mingo Junction Police Department will not keep any of this money.

If your child is accepted into the program, we ask that the enrollment fee be paid by check to Mingo Junction Explorer Program.

📢 IMPORTANT — OPEN ENROLLMENT MEETING

📅 October 5, 2026
⏰ 6:00 PM
📍 2379 Wilson Avenue, Mingo Junction, Ohio
🏫 Indian Creek Middle School Library. ( Main entrance)

Parents — bring your kids and come learn about the program!

During this meeting, we will explain the program, discuss the expectations and requirements, answer questions, and provide important information about how your child can become one of our first 30 Explorers.

This is an exciting opportunity for our young people to learn, grow, lead, serve, and build relationships with law enforcement and their community. We have A LOT of information to share with you!

❤️ A SPECIAL THANK YOU! ❤️

We would like to give a BIG shoutout and thank you to our Village Council members for providing the initial funding to help us get this program started.

And, of course, we want to thank Mayor Judy L. Ruckman for giving us her blessing and supporting this vision for our youth.

This is what POLICE & COMMUNITY is all about. Together, we can make a difference.

Let’s invest in our youth.
Let’s build leaders.
Let’s build relationships.
Let’s build a better Jefferson County.

We are excited. We are ready. And we can’t wait to meet our first 30 Explorers! 🚔

Please give us some feedback!

Today We Remember. May we never forget the lives lost that day. 25 years ago today we lost many brothers and sisters to a horrific act of violence. God bless the brave men and women who gave it all to help their fellow man. God bless the USA 🇺🇸

Firemen love good BBQ! Today we were invited by Steubenville Firefighters Local 228 to challenge them in their annual rib eating contest at Texas Roadhouse. A team of 4 was ready to take on the challenge to help support a great cause. Proceeds from dining at the restaurant today benefit Tunnel to Towers foundation! Our MJFD team brought home first place 🥇. Great job guys!!

Another Grant was received from the Denis Leary Firefighters Foundation. We received a turnout gear washer. This helps cut down on firefighter exposure to carcinogens. Thank you to the Leary foundation for helping with our mission.
