Hope's Parks and Power team has been busy this summer organizing community members to learn more about how the Minneapolis Park Board operates and how to hold them accountable to an agenda that advances equity in our city's green spaces. Minneapolis parks are facing a $3.1M funding gap.

MPRB requested a 5.86% levy increase to maintain current services, while Mayor Frey proposed 2.5%.

On September 9 at 5:05 PM, the Board of Estimate and Taxation will hold a public hearing before setting the maximum 2027 levy. This is a chance for residents to speak directly about what park services, programs, and workers mean to our communities.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Your Voice in Our Parks series! 🌳

We had some great conversations about the Racial Equity Toolkit, projects using the toolkit, and the MPRB community engagement process. Grateful to everyone who shared their experiences, perspectives, and ideas for making our parks more equitable and responsive to community voices.

Minneapolis must fully fund our parks.

Mayor Frey proposed a 2.5% MPRB levy increase, leaving a $3.2 million gap between his proposal and MPRB’s 5.86% request to maintain current services.

This funding gap puts park services, programs, and jobs at risk.

Close the $3.2M gap. Fully fund our parks.

We’re continuing our Park Board Meeting Highlights series to make Minneapolis Park Board decisions easier to understand.
