It's our month! Eastside Food Co-op is featuring us as their Seedlings recipient. Shoppers are invited to make small donations or round up their purchases at the register. Any donations made over the month of July are donated to EMoW!
Our July Seedlings recipient is Eastside Meals on Wheels!
For many seniors, a knock at the door from an EMoW volunteer means a hot meal, sure, but it also means connection, safety, and the ability to stay in the place they call home.
Eastside Meals on Wheels delivers nutritious meals five days a week to adults 60+ who struggle to prepare adequate food on their own. Their volunteers do more than drop off lunch: they check in and notice safety concerns in a consistent, caring way.
The result? Seniors can age in place longer, avoiding the trauma and steep cost of nursing home or hospital care. In fact, a full year of Meals on Wheels costs the same as just one day in a hospital, or 10 days in a nursing home. A small investment with an enormous return!
