Today, the MAGA Court struck down Louisiana’s majority-Black congressional district in a devastating blow to the Voting Rights Act.

“The court’s decision will set back the foundational right of racial equality in electoral opportunity,” said Justice Elena Kagan in her dissent.

Without Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, up to 25–30% of the Congressional Black Caucus and as much as 11% of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus could lose their seats. This is a power grab. They are attacking Black political power as a front to set up a system where they can overrule everyone.

As Emily Lee, our Executive Director, put it: “The court has handed Republican legislatures a roadmap to silence voters of color across the South. It’s our mandate to run up the margins and demand representation.”

DEEP CANVASSING changes the game! ⬇️

Over the weekend, 80 volunteers knocked on 2,600 doors across Bakersfield. They had 374 conversations and 44% of voters DECREASED their support for David Valadao, the GOP incumbent. All thanks to deep listening and heartfelt conversations at the door.

One voter said it herself: “When you all came around before in 2024, we didn’t make the time to talk to you, and now we’re sorry. We should have taken that time. We should have listened.”

Voters are ready to change the channel, and Seed the Vote volunteers are knocking doors until they do.

As put it on last night’s mass call: “This isn’t just a fight to flip this seat from red to blue, it’s also a fight for the soul of the Democratic Party.”

What he DELIVERED was a budget that gutted education funding and health care so billionaires could pocket the difference. We know it. You know it. And every day, more and more swing voters in purple districts also KNOW IT.

California deserves better than a congressman who calls himself a “moderate” and votes with Trump 99% of the time.
