The work of FFN providers in our community is so important to recognize!

When we say it takes a village to care for our children, we usually mean our family, friends and neighbors (FFN). These types of informal caregivers often care for our kids on a regular basis but without official recognition or support.

DCYF not only recognizes the essential role these caregivers play in raising our children — but we also offer resources to support them specifically!

Visit the FFN webpage to be connected to tailored educational and culturally appropriate resources, health and safety training, educational activities, and more: https://dcyf.mn.gov/ffn

It was an honor to help moderate the panel at yesterday's screening of The Dreamcatchers, a documentary highlighting the critical ways Minnesota communities are supporting families with young children.
The event brought together a variety of stakeholders—from caregivers and community leaders to state officials and early childhood advocates. We heard powerful reflections from Representative Dave Pinto and Commissioner Tikki Brown, and had a thoughtful panel discussion with partners from LaCreche Early Childhood Center, Mahube-OTWA, and Project FINE.
This documentary, created through a Build grant in partnership with the State of Minnesota, is a celebration of the deep relationships, local leadership, and systemic change happening across the state.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible—your work and voices matter.

🌟 "We envision a city where every child is cherished, every talent nurtured, and every voice respected." 🌟

That’s the mission that drives us at the Youth Coordinating Board (YCB) and we're proud to work alongside our jurisdictional partners across Minneapolis to bring this vision to life!

Last week, we hosted our first bi-monthly Forum for Child and Youth Safety and Well-Being, also known as the SafeYouth Forum!

This exciting new space brought together city and community leaders to engage in powerful conversations about the importance of youth safety across our city.

Check out a few highlights from the event below and stay tuned for more updates as we continue working together to build a safer, more supportive Minneapolis for all young people!

We had such an amazing turnout at our 3rd Annual Back to School Kickoff Event! The day was filled with games, goodies, and tons of fun. We loved connecting with community members, partnering organizations across Minneapolis, and sharing brand-new school supplies with youth in the city.

A big thank you to our incredible partners: TPT - Twin Cities PBS for bringing out one of our favorite characters, Dev from Skillsville, Hennepin County Library, City of Minneapolis Health Department, Minneapolis Public Schools Community-Ed, and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for helping make this event a success.

And an extra special thanks to Comcast for providing amazing back-to-school bags and goodies!
