Did you know that the Kansas Immunization Information System (KSWebIZ) now offers a Public Portal that allows patients to securely access their own immunization records?

The Public Portal gives individuals and families a convenient way to view and download official immunization records without needing to contact your office or the KSWebIZ Helpdesk.

🦟It's National Mosquito Control Week: June 21-27, 2026.

🫗Eliminate mosquito breeding habitats: TIP and TOSS twice a week. Mosquitoes need standing water to lay their eggs.

• Empty standing water from tarps, old tires, buckets, outdoor toys, and other places where water collects.
• Refresh water for bird baths and pet bowls at least every three days.
• Drill holes in tire swings for drainage and keep wading pools empty when not in use.
• Look for hidden sources of standing water, like clogged gutters and plant saucers.
• If you have a pond, consider adding fish. Contact the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks for stocking information.
• If you can't eliminate standing water, consider treating with larvicides.

🦟It's National Mosquito Control Week: June 21-27, 2026.

🤒West Nile Virus (WNV) is the most important mosquito-borne disease in Kansas. The virus was first detected in North America in 1999 and has since spread across the continent.

• The mosquitoes that carry WNV are most active at dusk and dawn.
• It can take 2-14 days for symptoms to appear after a bite from an infected mosquito.
• Symptoms range from mild flu-like illness with fever, headache, body aches, rash, vomiting and diarrhea, to severe illness.
• About 1% of people infected with WNV develop neurological infection that can cause brain damage and even death.
• Older people and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk.
• From 2021-2025, Kansas had 98 cases of neuroinvasive WNV and seven deaths.
• No vaccines or specific treatments exist for WNV in people.
• The only way to prevent WNV infection is to prevent mosquito bites.

🚨DID YOU KNOW: 🐎Horses can also get WNV from infected mosquitoes. Talk to your veterinarian about how to prevent WNV in horses.
