And now a reminder from our Treasurer:
Have you heard about the State of Minnesota’s Political Contribution Refund (PCR) program? It helps counter "dark money" by providing a refund of up to $75 (or $150 for married couples) to support small-dollar donors. By making a donation to a "qualified" candidate or political party, you can get your money back from the state.
You can learn more about which candidates and parties qualify at the link below: Political Contribution Refund Information
Once you make a donation, the candidate or party will send you a receipt. Simply include that receipt with your Political Contribution Refund Application (also available at the link above).
Every vote—and every dollar—counts! In 2024, the DFL-MN House 54A candidate won by just 15 votes, and the DFL-MN House 14B candidate won by 28 votes. If a Republican had won either of those races, they would have secured an outright 68–66 majority in the MN House. While the MN House ultimately ended up in a tie, those two seats were the thin margin that prevented a Republican majority. Maybe it was one extra door-knocking trip or a few hundred dollars that saved those seats.
So choose a candidate or cause and put the PCR money to good use. If you can’t decide where your PCR donation should go, consider Senate District 61 (SD61). SD61 is a qualified political group. We work with our SD61 electeds to support candidates in precincts we need to hold, as well as those we can "flip." Sometimes, a little extra door-knocking or a small donation is exactly the boost a candidate needs to win. Another example is when SD61 support for a candidate helps them meet the required threshold in qualifying contributions to qualify for the Minnesota Public Subsidy Program.
