Yesterday, we gathered with 175 community members to celebrate the grand opening of the FIRST Family Resource Center in Hennepin County! This has been a labor of love and partnership with community and families. Over the last few years, we asked families about their wants, hopes, and needs and together, we built something purposeful and impactful, together.
As Commissioner Angela Conley said, families are the experts in their own lives; we just need to listen.
The South Minneapolis Family Resource Center offers low or no-cost services and resources to help families stay safe and healthy. It's located on the second floor of The Family Partnership on Lake St.
We want to thank our partners at Hennepin County and the steering committee for making this place - where families can thrive - a reality. We're also sending a special thank you to Lakota "Hokie" Clairmont, a member of the Ho-Chunk and Lakota tribes from St. Paul, for performing at the Grand Opening yesterday. And lastly, thank you to everyone who attended the grand opening!
