Minnesota Students for Liberty

Minnesota Students for Liberty It is not our goal to be exclusive, but inclusive.

We hope to attract the liberty minded individuals, those who strive for freedom and responsibility(both personal and political), as well as those who are dissatisfied with the current state of the political system and looking for real answers as opposed to politically correct propaganda. Liberty means many different things to many different people, but it shares common roots that we can all respect and appreciate.

Someone has been going around defacing these fliers around campus. While I personally disagree with just about everything that socialism stands for, I must condemn this wanton act of vandalism in the strongest possible terms.

As I said regarding the vandalism of the College Republicans' sign, disagreement with their speech does not give you the right to deface their signs. If you disagree with their sign, go make your own, start a protest, go have a conversation with them, do literally anything else other than vandalize their stuff.

Though you disagree with their speech, you have a duty to defend to the death their right to say it. That is the basis of a free, open, and civil society. Freedom of speech is what makes our country function. Singling out, defacing, harassing, shouting down, and deplatforming unpopular views is not freedom of speech. It's censorship and it's wrong.

If we do not speak out for them now, no one will speak out for us. We must stand up, speak out, and be heard in challenge to this. I ask you again, as I did before, to stand up and be counted among those willing to stand for free speech, for open discussion, and against vandalism. Your school, and dare I say your country, will thank you once more.
