The Lake Street Council is a nonprofit whose mission is to ensure the vitality and prosperity of the Lake Street commercial corridor and the surrounding neighborhoods. Our staff of five promotes the area through marketing initiatives, provides support to small businesses, and promotes economic development in our community.
The Communications & Marketing Coordinator is a full-time position that provides communications and marketing support to ensure the effective operation of the organization and promote a vibrant Lake Street corridor. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to help executive our vast communication and marketing needs.
Under the supervision of the Senior Creative Operations Manager, you will be responsible for bringing visibility to the Lake Street corridor and its businesses through our social media platforms, e-newsletter, and website. You will also provide communication and marketing support for the Lake Street Council's business outreach programs. This individual should possess exceptional attention to detail, creative thinking, and marketing experience.
Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Work with the Senior Creative Operations Manager to develop overall communications goals and establish a work plan to meet those goals.
Develop creative marketing content about Lake Street businesses and disseminate it through targeted communications that reach 30K+ followers
Help to manage multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube)
Track and analyze marketing and communications performance and effectiveness
Maintain multiple electronic mailing lists and send e-newsletters
Assist with PR strategy and media requests
This position will not include graphic design or website management responsibilities.
Requirements/Qualifications
3-5 years of previous experience in communications/marketing is preferred
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills – including writing for a variety of audiences and formats
Possess strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Cultural competency and ability to interact successfully with a variety of racially, ethnically, and economically diverse constituents.
Experience with small businesses and/or nonprofits.
Knowledge of Lake Street and its many businesses.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to receive and understand direction, ask questions when appropriate, and manage time to work effectively and independently.
Project management experience is a plus.
Tourism marketing experience is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Drive.
Ability to receive feedback and change focus to meet deadlines.
Hours: This full-time position will mainly be Monday-Friday, 9 – 5, though some weekend and evening work is required. The individual in this position must be able to both work remotely and work within the organization’s office or at events as needed.
Term: This is an at-will project position expected to run from July 2020 to September 2021. There is a potential for an extended term, dependent on available funding.
