Why Restorative Services

Restorative philosophy recognizes hurtful behavior and conflict as a violation of relationships between individuals and community members. Restorative services respond to harm and conflict in a fair, just and compassionate manner. It encourages accountability while repairing harm and promotes safe and secure communities. Restorative services provide opportunities for thos

e most affected – those who have caused harm, those who have been harmed, their families, co-workers, and community members – to be directly involved in responding to that harm. Restorative philosophy and services have their roots in all indigenous cultures. It is the ancient wisdom of people coming together to address conflict, discuss problems, make decisions, and build stronger community connections. Roots of Restorative Justice
Restorative philosophy and practices have their roots in indigenous cultures. It’s the ancient wisdom of people coming together to address conflict, discuss problems, and build stronger community connections. Specifically, we acknowledge and are indebted to the native peoples of North America for sharing the wisdom of the circle, and those of New Zealand for the practice of family group conferencing.

"Rob Stewart has a lot going on these days... working on a Ph.D...involved in criminal justice reform...teaching classes...it’s a very different schedule than the one Stewart might have envisioned for himself back in 2007. That was the year he was convicted of first-degree possession and sale of co***ne, he**in or methamphetamine, the end of a long series of run-ins with narcotics and the law."

OWATONNA — Rob Stewart has a lot going on these days.

Around 11:30 on Tuesday night I witnessed something incredible. A man was out of his mind screaming nonsense along the Seawall that extends from Vancouver, BC's West End neighborhood around the 4 sq. km. region known as Stanley Park.
