Station 24 served the city from 1907 to 1941.

Fire Station #24, located at 4501 Hiawatha Avenue, was built in 1907, was in service from 1907 until approximately 1941, and was composed exclusively of black firemen. The International Leadership Institute has worked to create greater visibility to save the former all-Black Fire Station #24, moving it from a wrecking ball candidate to a thriving community asset protected by Landmark designation.

The main objective of WATOTO is to promote and protect the human rights and welfare of youths, orphans and at-risk children through education, counselling and various intervention programs aimed at meeting the children’s basic needs and reintegrating them into society.
