Each year, FamilyWise shines a spotlight on organizations, agencies, and community-based initiatives statewide that have consistently worked to create safe, healthy, and supportive environments for children and families through our Pinwheel for Prevention Awards. Congratulations to this week's highlighted recipient, The Link!

The Link supports youth and families experiencing homelessness, young people who are survivors of s*x trafficking, and youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system. We offer a continuum of innovative, youth-driven programs to meet youth’s basic needs while empowering them with the resources and relationships to pursue their goals and thrive. The Link is proud to be the largest provider of youth housing in Minnesota and a leader in the movements to end youth homelessness and s*xual exploitation and reform the juvenile justice system. Last year, The Link supported over 2,000 youth and young families across the Twin Cities Metro area, including youth participating in FamilyWise’s Wraparound program, improving their skills and building their independence.

Each year, FamilyWise shines a spotlight on organizations, agencies, and community-based initiatives statewide that have consistently worked to create safe, healthy, and supportive environments for children and families. Congratulations to our first highlighted recipient, the Enough. Program through the YMCA of the North.

The Enough. Program provides trauma-informed life coaching, outreach, and supportive services to youth and young adults (up to age 28) who have experienced or are at high risk of s*xual exploitation, trafficking, domestic violence, or related harm. Services include culturally specific programming for Indigenous participants, rapid rehousing and housing stability support, and economic empowerment to promote long-term independence. The program also offers parent/caregiver education and support groups, with a strong focus on prevention, healing, and holistic well-being.

In pursuing our vision of a world where every child thrives, FamilyWise is committed to supporting families every step along the way.

As one parent shares in our latest blog post, our First Step Early Childhood Education Center is a key part of that work. “We are grateful for all that First Step did for our kids...in those crucial years when they were becoming who they will always be,” says Angie. “First Step gently accustoms kids to the rhythms and rules of a school while encouraging kids to be themselves.”
