We are thrilled to announce that Katie Fitzpatrick has been named the next President and CEO of the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, officially beginning her role on June 15!

Katie brings more than 20 years of community-based leadership experience and a deep, foundational understanding of our mission. Her relationship with our organization is also beautifully personal, as she previously served as a childcare volunteer at the Nursery for six years.

We are incredibly grateful to welcome her to the team as we enter this exciting next chapter for our organization and continue to serve families and children in our community with compassion.

Thank you to the Crisis Nursery Board and Ballinger Leafblad, Inc. for their outstanding leadership and support throughout the search process.

Meet Nicole.

At 22, Nicole moved to Minnesota to raise her children while navigating single motherhood, grief, depression, and life in a brand-new place. She was exhausted and searching for a support system that wasn't there yet.

Then someone told her about the Crisis Nursery.

When she called, she was met with compassion and zero judgment, and the Nursery became the support system she was searching for.

But Nicole's story doesn't stop there.

Today, Nicole is a volunteer. She cooks for kids, leads enrichment activities, and refers her own clients to the Nursery. They come back sharing the same positive experience she once had.

She didn't just find support at the Nursery. She came back to give it.

During National Volunteer Week, we are so grateful for Nicole's trust, her heart, and the beautiful full-circle way she shows up for families in crisis.

This National Volunteer Appreciation Month, we're giving a special shout out to Heart of America and PNC. Thanks to their incredible partnership and dedication, the Nursery's corridors have been transformed with fresh paint, interactive boards, and brand-new cubbies for the kiddos.

A little color can go a long way

With the help of volunteers from PNC, these walls at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery are being transformed into something brighter, calmer, and more welcoming for the children and families who walk through their doors.

Every brushstroke is part of a bigger picture, creating a space that supports comfort, care, and safety for children to learn, play, and grow.

And we’re not done yet. 💙
