🚨 SCAM ALERT! 🚨

We've recently received several reports of scammers posing as law enforcement officers or court officials. The caller may claim you missed jury duty, failed to appear in court, or have a warrant for your arrest, then demand immediate payment to resolve the issue.

Remember:
- Government agencies will never call and demand payment over the phone.
- Agencies do not accept payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, payment apps or prepaid debit cards.
- You will not be threatened with immediate arrest during a phone call.

If you receive a call like this, hang up and do not send money or provide personal information.

If you're unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the agency directly using a phone number you find independently on an official website or in a public directory.

Regular training keeps our officers prepared for the challenges they may face in the field, reinforcing the skills and decision-making needed to respond safely and effectively.

One of the challenges our deputies face is seeing the same young people repeatedly involved in auto theft.

During a recent investigation, our Hennepin County Auto Task Force located a stolen vehicle after receiving an alert from a license plate reader system. Four occupants were taken into custody after attempting to flee. Investigators also recovered a firearm, a pistol magazine and a machete from the vehicle.

One of the juveniles arrested was the same individual who had been taken into custody earlier this month in connection with a stolen vehicle and other offenses.
Auto theft affects more than vehicle owners. It creates safety concerns for everyone on our roads and in our neighborhoods. We know many residents are frustrated by the repeat offenders and the impact auto theft has on our communities. Our deputies see that frustration firsthand and remain committed to addressing this ongoing issue.

Thanks to the Auto Task Force, which includes HCSO, Edina Police & Fire Departments, Minnetonka Police Department, and St. Louis Park, Minnesota Police Department. Minneapolis Police Department auto theft also assisted us on this.
