Summer Reading Registration is going on now at Filger Library. Please stop by the library by May 29, 2026 to fill out your forms. Summer Reading starts June 1, 2026.

We are so grateful for our hometown author, Steve Vogel and his presentation last night. More than 50 people welcomed Steve "home". Steve's stories delighted us all and he was able to visit with some in attendance afterwards.
A "BIG" Thank You to the staff at Filger Library for making this a success!
We appreciate the city workers for delivering extra chairs as well as the Baptist Church contributing their chairs. It's wonderful to have our community come together!
We will be posting photos soon and hopefully a video from our evening program with Steve Vogel.
We have his latest book, "Broadcast Live" available here at the library to check out and also "Reasonable Doubt" which is about the David Henricks murders in Bloomington, IL.

We hope that everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We are so grateful for the military personnel who serve our country now and for those who have gone before us.
As a reminder, Filger Library is closed Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25 for the holiday.

If you enter from the parking lot area, the left door has a handicap ramp and the right door has the stairs. There is a slight slope into the downstairs area when you go thru the 2nd door. The front entrance has stairs to the downstairs area.

Steve Vogel will present a special reading from his new book, 'Broadcast Live", an engaging collection of recollections spanning his early years growing up in Minonk and his accomplished career in journalism & business communications.
A graduate of Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School and St. Patrick's Grade School, Vogel's storytelling has long captured the human details behind major events. In "Broadcast Live: 71 true stories including some I'd just as soon forget", he turns his keen eye inward, sharing personal vignettes & memories woven with humor, reflection & heart. "It'll be a real homecoming for me" Vogel said, "and I'm hoping to see a few of the people who show up in the book-even though their names have been changed to protect the more-or-less innocent."
Copies of "Broadcast Live" will not be available for sale, but Vogel says he'll be happy to sign any copies people possess. "Broadcast Live" has been published in hardcover, as an e-book & in an audio version narrated by Vogel himself. His true crime book, "Reasonable Doubt", was a New York Times best seller!
