Congratulations to all of our Cadets and Recruits on successfully completing last week's Fire Service Boot Camp! 🚒💪

Over the course of an intense week, these future firefighters were challenged both mentally and physically as they learned fundamental fire service skills, teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Their dedication, determination, and positive attitude were on full display every day.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work each participant put in and the progress they made throughout the week. This is just the beginning of their journey, and we look forward to watching them continue to grow and succeed in the fire service.

The Minooka Fire Protection District would like to extend our sincere gratitude to ExxonMobil Joliet for their generous donation of firefighting gear to support our Recruit/Cadet Program.

This contribution will provide valuable training equipment for the next generation of firefighters as they develop the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary for a successful career in the fire service. Partnerships like this play a critical role in preparing future emergency responders while strengthening the safety and resilience of our community.

🦆🚒 Duck, Duck… RESCUE! 🚒🦆

Earlier today, Chief Petrakis from Channahon Fire Protection District noticed something was a little fowl near a storm drain near our station on McClindon Rd. A concerned mama duck was pacing back and forth, clearly quacking under pressure.

He contacted our crews and we responded quickly to discover the reason for her distress—a group of ducklings had taken an unexpected detour into the drain system! After some careful teamwork, patience, and a few duck-related negotiations, the little waddlers were safely rescued and reunited with their relieved mama.

No injuries were reported, although several ducklings have already requested swimming lessons and GPS devices.

A big thank you to Chief Petrakis for spotting the situation, Emily Collins from Minooka Public Works helping ensure this family was reunited with mamma duck and Sgt Macdonald from Minooka Police Department for traffic control to keep us safe!

We would like to take this moment to proudly recognize and celebrate three dedicated members of the Minooka Fire Protection District for reaching an incredible milestone — 10 years of service to our community!

Congratulations to Lt. Louis Vicelli, John Medlin, and Matthew Fals on a decade of commitment, professionalism, and service. Over the past 10 years, each of you has played an important role in protecting and serving the residents of Minooka with pride and dedication.

Thank you for your hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the fire service and the community we are honored to serve. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful to have you as part of the Minooka Fire family.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, the Minooka Fire Protection District extends our deepest gratitude to all who have served and especially to those who gave their lives in defense of our freedoms. We also keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts today.

As we gather with family and friends, may we take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember the heroes who made our freedom possible. 🇺🇸

Please join us in congratulating Chad Hrechko on his appointment as the newest Fire District Trustee for the Minooka Fire Protection District. Chad will serve as the Board Secretary, stepping into the role following the retirement of longtime trustee Angie Robinson last month.
We would also like to recognize the retirement of Fire Commissioner Jeff Hanley after 14 years of dedicated service to the district and our community. Jeff’s leadership, commitment, and support over the years have been greatly appreciated.
Joining the Board of Fire Commissioners is Minooka resident Ryan Dobczyk, who will be filling the vacancy left by Jeff’s retirement. We welcome Ryan to the district leadership team and look forward to working with him in his new role.
Please join us in thanking Angie Robinson and Jeff Hanley for their years of service and congratulating Chad Hrechko and Ryan Dobczyk on their new positions with the Minooka Fire Protection District.
