The Minotola Fire Company was founded in 1923 when Richard C. Oliver, Steve Costa, Robert Cook, and Olin Ralph petitioned the state to create a new fire district i

n the community of Minotola. These five men became the first Commissioners for Fire District Two for Buena Boro.

12 volunteers were recruited to staff the department which opened its first station, in a neighbors garage, on Atlantic Avenue in Minotola. In 1930 a permenant station was built on Atlantic Avenue, giving the company its first established home where it could house its first two pieces of apparatus. In 1987 the need for a new station capable of housing modern apparatus and equipment was needed and construction began at a new location on Wheat Road. On October 14, 1990 the Minotola Fire Company celebrated the dedication of the new Station 11-2, followed by its 75th anniversary just eight years later. Today the company continues to reside at its Wheat Road station and is equipped with a

Last night, April 17, 2024, 15 members of the Minotola Volunteer Fire Company were recognized by the Atlantic County Firefighters' Association and the Atlantic County Board of County Commissioners for their exemplary services performed during the August 2023 house explosion and structure fire with multiple victims in the Borough of Buena.

We are proud of our volunteer members’ selfless service and dedication to the residents of the Borough of Buena. These actions demonstrate their high level of commitment to duty, which brings great credit to our organization.

On August 3, 2023, the Minotola Volunteer Fire Company, along with mutual aid companies, responded to the report of a building explosion with multiple entrapments. Incident Command was established with a report of a fully involved residential structure collapse. Two victims were medevaced and four victims were unaccounted for. The Atlantic City Bomb Squad was on location and firefighting operations were suspended multiple times so that the Bomb Squad could mitigate explosives still present. Once the scene was deemed safe, firefighting and recovery operations continued and utilized many responders from multiple agencies. The bodies of three of the missing victims were recovered by the end of the first day and the remaining one was recovered in the afternoon of the next day. The members of the Minotola Volunteer Fire Company were on location for over 30 hours during this most tragic event.

Tonight and Mon morning will likely be the coldest of the season for many areas with lows 10-15°. The typical cold spots may experience lows in the single digits. Fortunately, the wind won't be much of a factor. Temperatures will get progressively warmer each day this week, but we'll turn wet with some periods of rain.
