Dear Mint Hill Residents,

This week our transition begins from summer to fall. While the weather may not yet reflect the change, the start of the school year in Mint Hill is a clear sign that fall is approaching. Although Pam and I no longer have children in school, the first day of classes remains one of the most recognizable signs of the season. Family vacations come to an end, familiar routines resume, and the community looks ahead to new beginnings.

As students return to the classroom, I encourage residents to stay mindful of increased back-to-school traffic. With buses stopping, children walking or biking, and parents dropping off students, we should all slow down, remain patient, and stay alert. Our children are the future of our community, and their safety is a shared responsibility.

Starting Tuesday, August 25, the Splash Pad at the Mint Hill Community Center will be open Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Please note that Community Center parking is not permitted in the Bain School parking lot during school hours.

On Saturday at 7:30 a.m., the Mint Hill Fire Department will host a flag-lowering ceremony at the fire department. Patriot Day, observed each year on September 11, honors those who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Virginia, and aboard United Airlines Flight 93. It also honors the first responders who died while trying to rescue others.

Please join our first responders at the fire station flagpole as we honor these fallen heroes.

The next Board of Commissioners meeting will be held Thursday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m. at Mint Hill Town Hall. The agenda will be available on our website the Friday before the meeting.

Enjoy these final days of summer.

Mint Hill Mayor
