Well it looks like the district maps have been finalized for the Michigan House, Senate and the U.S. House.

Oscoda County was split in half in the Michigan House. If you live North of Cherry Creek Road, you will be in the 106th district. If you live South of Cherry Creek Road, you will be in the 105th district. I find it odd that Oscoda County with just over 8,000 residents was divided, but maybe this will help our little county having 2 representatives in Lansing representing us.

Oscoda County is in the 36th district in the Michigan Senate. It is similar to before as it includes all of NE Michigan. It does not include Cheboygan down to Ga***rd but it stretches West of Roscommon to include all of Missaukee County, Wexford County and 1/2 of Manistee County.

For the U.S. Congressional House, Oscoda County remains in the 1st District. The 1st district includes all of the U.P. & the N. part of the L.P. South to Beulah/Thompsonville and across to Standish/AuGres.

Final maps should be available on the State of Michigan website in January, 2022.

Happy Monday to everyone! Many counties are getting phone calls because of a letter being sent out by a company called Visser and Associates, PLLC. They are located out of Kentwood, Michigan.

They are soliciting property owners who may have been foreclosed on for delinquent taxes to hire them to claim any remaining proceeds after the tax auction and of course, charge a fee for any money they recover.

Most of the taxpayers Visser and Associates have sent letters to were not foreclosed on and this is causing a lot of confusion. If you receive one of these letters, please contact the Treasurer's office at 989-826-1113.
