(05/16/26) 🚨 🚨DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, let the early morning rain fool you!!!! We are expected to see rapid mixing and drying this afternoon. This can be explained at a later date as it is fire weather nerd stuff 😀 Once this occurs we will see conditions very similar, if not worse than yesterday!

Two days of critical fire weather ahead! Please use caution with outdoor activities.

Gusty southwest winds and low afternoon humidity will result in elevated fire danger conditions this afternoon. Similar conditions are likely on Saturday as well. For information about burning in your particular county, please visit: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits/

Combination of dry surface conditions, low afternoon relative humidity, and gusty west to northwest winds will result in fairly widespread elevated fire danger conditions again this afternoon. Temperatures will drop rapidly tonight, with more frost/freeze conditions by Sunday morning.

Every Wednesday night we come together for training, maintenance, or business meetings. 2nd Wednesdays of the month are for training, 4th Wednesdays for business, and every Wednesday in between for maintenance and/or public events/volunteerism. Last night we completed our stretch of Adopt-A-Highway. We received some hugs and thanks along the way and also had some folks stop and ask for general fire information. Felt good to just walk and let the firemen be firemen. No business!

🚨May 4th Fire Response Update🚨
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:30pm Tri-Town Fire Department was paged for the first of many wildland fires in Oscoda County. The total number of fires is still being determined as we compile all the call logs from our county dispatch. All of the fires that were responded to in direct protection of TTFD were caused by down power lines. With the biggest one being 16 acres. As most are aware the largest fire is in the area of Brown Cabin Road. That fire is outside of our direct protection area. We will not be releasing any information pertaining to that incident.
At approximately 4:00pm TTFD requested a Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) activation. This brought many resources into our county from as far away as Alpena. With resources on standby-by if needed as far as Bay City. All of these fires came within a 3 hour time span and used every available resource in the county. Through mutual aid agreements and neighbors helping neighbors, available resources were brought in from Ogemaw and Iosco County as well. All of the fires were successfully contained yesterday however there is plenty of work still ongoing today and for the next several days. No homes were lost on any of these fires however some secondary/outbuildings were lost or damaged. No injuries reported and everyone went home safe. We would like to say thank you to all involved during yesterday’s fire response.

Congratulations to all!!!! This accomplishment is a absolute grind. 2-3 days a week for roughly four months. Having to balance work/life, fire calls, fire training, and everything else in between is no easy task. Tri-Town Fire Department is proud to say we had one new firefighter in this academy. Job well done!

Good morning,
We have seemed to dodge the worst of the storm. At this time we have only responded to one call for service. We do have some reported power outages. There is still a period of time to be concerned about. The wind is going to pick up and the trees are heavy. The temp is also going to drop as the day goes on. We are not in the clear yet. If you do not have to travel this morning please don’t. Roads are in pretty rough shape. The Oscoda County Road Commission is out clearing roads. Give them time and space to work.
If conditions change we will do our best to update you here and pass on any important information.

Stay safe!
