This morning’s Memorial Day Service hosted by the Oscoda County Department of Veterans Affairs was a meaningful tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country.

It was great to see so many members of the community come together to honor our fallen heroes and show their support.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend Traffic & Recreation Safety Reminder⚠️

With increased travel expected throughout the holiday weekend, you will see extra deputies on patrol focusing on traffic enforcement and overall public safety. Our goal is not to ruin anyone’s weekend! It’s to help prevent crashes, keep our roads safe, and make sure everyone gets home safely to their families.

Please remember to slow down, wear your seatbelt, avoid distracted driving, and never drive impaired. If you plan on celebrating, make arrangements ahead of time for a safe ride home.

We also encourage everyone enjoying the outdoors this weekend to practice safe ORV, boating, and water safety. Wear your life jacket, operate responsibly, watch your speed on the trails and waterways, and always keep safety in mind for yourself and others around you.

We also remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and honor the families who continue to carry their legacy.

The Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office is proud to share the results of another successful investigation involving the STING narcotics task force.

Our office currently has a detective assigned to the STING team, working alongside neighboring agencies to investigate narcotics activity affecting Oscoda County and surrounding communities. This recent investigation led to the ex*****on of search warrants in Luzerne and the seizure of fentanyl, methamphetamine, co***ne, fi****ms, and electronic devices connected to drug trafficking activity.

The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to aggressively combating narcotics activity and protecting the residents of our county.

Investigations of this nature often involve months of investigative work, coordination between agencies, and extensive follow-up by detectives and law enforcement personnel.

We are proud of the work being done each day by our deputies, detectives, and partnering agencies to help keep dangerous drugs out of our communities and protect the residents of Oscoda County.
