CLASE Transfer Mentor Program Saddleback College

Chicanx, Latinx Access, Success & Empowerment Program at Saddleback College aims to support students transfer to a 4-year university.

CLASE Transfer Mentor Program (Chicanx-Latinx Access, Success & Empowerment) is a new program in Saddleback College that aims to help and support Chicano/Latino students transfer to a four year university. We aim to do so through:
-Peer-to-peer mentoring services
-Finding volunteer opportunities
-Informing you of Transfer events and workshops.
- Visiting different universities
-Finding other resources for you to succeed at Saddleback College.

The C.L.A.S.E. Program traveled to University of California, Riverside last week for the 48th Annual Community College Day: Transfer Student Conference. Community College Day is structured to provide students with pertinent information regarding the transfer process, support services, academic programs and student life. Workshops included and had a strong emphasis on Chicano/Latino and Native American cultural awareness and empowerment. We had a wonderful time exploring the incredible UC Riverside campus throughout the day. Huge appreciation to the Chicano Student Programs that both organized and hosted the amazing event!

Last Saturday, The C.L.A.S.E. Students headed over to Concordia University Irvine for the 4th Annual Latina Leadership Conference. The conference helps attendees navigate the road to college with inspiring speakers, stories, college major breakout sessions, and panels—including a new panel for parents of future first-generation college students. C.L.A.S.E. Staff and Student alike really appreciated the thoughtfulness of the day’s events. Thanks to all of the Concordia University Irvine staff and gifted speakers for making the conference both inspiring and truly meaningful!

The C.L.A.S.E. Students headed out early last Friday morning as we traveled to San Diego State University for a campus tour. After arriving, the office of admissions provided the students with a presentation covering admissions, financial aid, scholarships and housing information. After the presentation, we traversed the beautiful SDSU campus with our amazing tour guides. Huge thanks to the Office of Admissions and the Prospective Student Center staff for providing a great campus tour experience!

The C.L.A.S.E. students traveled to Cal Poly Pomona on a rainy Friday morning in September of 2019. Our campus tour guide showed us how the University is model for an inclusive polytechnic university that inspires creativity and innovation, embraces local and global challenges, and transforms lives. After the tour, we were able to meet with some previous C.L.A.S.E. students that recently transferred to Cal Poly Pomona. Finally, we finished our journey at the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education. Huge thanks to Cal Poly Pomona tour program, the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education, and our esteemed former C.L.A.S.E. transfer students.

C.L.A.S.E. had a wonderful turnout for the Summer 2019 Noche de Exito / Night of Success event! The event featured valuable presentations from Financial Aid, EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services), Transfer Center, and the C.L.A.S.E. (Chicano/a – Latino/a Access, Success, and Empowerment) Transfer Mentor Program. Big thanks to all attendees and speakers!
