We are incredibly proud to recognize Community Service Officer Hatchette as a 2026 graduate of California State University, Long Beach! 🎓✨
CSO Hatchette successfully balanced the demanding responsibilities of a full-time career in public safety, a full graduate course load to earn her Master’s degree, and serving as president of a university organization. Her exceptional dedication, work ethic, and leadership set a standard that positively influences both her colleagues and the community. Congratulations to all of the 2026 graduates! 🎉 Congratulations to Onora Hatchette, our next CHHS Class of 2026 Student Spotlight!

Onora will be graduating with a Master of Science degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

While earning her degree, Onora balanced graduate school with working nights for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and serving as President of the Criminal Justice Honors Society, Alpha Phi Sigma. She hopes to continue helping others through a future career in federal law enforcement.

Last night, we gathered for the annual Orange County Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony & Candlelight Vigil to remember the 54 law enforcement members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Our commitment to honoring their legacy remains unwavering. This year, we paid tribute to the enduring legacy of Orange County Sheriff's Department Sergeant Matt Davis, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in September 2002. Sgt. Davis’s family continues to be incredibly supportive and remains an indispensable, forever part of the OCSD family.
We will forever hold Matt and all 53 of his fallen brothers in our hearts.

Earlier this week, in the late hours of the night, Deputies observed an illegally parked vehicle in a disabled parking stall without a placard. The vehicle was occupied by two occupants and called for a second look. Deputies made contact with the occupants and were advised of contraband inside the vehicle. Deputies conducted a search of the illegally parked vehicle and located a Nitrous Oxide tank (NOS)and balloons in close proximity of each other. The NOS tank and balloons were both collected as evidence, and both occupants were charged with being in possession of nitrous oxide with the intent to get high or to be knowingly under the influence of gas for recreational purposes.

Connecting with the youngest members of our community is always the absolute best part of the job!
We recently spent time answering fantastic questions, sharing smiles, and giving our local youth a closer look at what we do every day. Building these relationships early is what community policing is all about.
Thank you to all the curious minds who kept us on our toes—we had an absolute blast!

Today Deputy Garden was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for her efforts in curbing driving under the influence. Deputy Garden has over 400 hours of DUI and drug impairment recognition training and is a Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor.
She made 36 arrests for driving under the influence in 2025, many of which were drug cases. Driving under the influence is not only alcohol consumption but any substance that can impair the driver, such as prescription or over the counter medications or illegal substances. MADD California

Hosted by the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, and Rancho Santa Margarita as well as the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the event will take place at Saddleback Church’s upper lot located at 1 Saddleback Lane in Lake Forest. The public is invited.
