The public can bring broken items to fix on the spot with the help of voluntary fixers during the Repair Cafe OC event on Saturday, September 12 from 8:30 am to 1 pm in the Sycamore A Room at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

This initiative promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out. Bring your broken lamps, bikes with a wobble or jeans with a hole—our coaches will help you fix them.

Volunteers are needed from 8 am to 1 pm. To sign up as a volunteer, fill out the form at https://ow.ly/METZ50ZHqzy.

Neighbors with items in need of repair don’t need to pre-register. All items are repaired on a walk-in basis.

For more information, contact [email protected] or visit Repair Cafe OC.

Protect and serve will have a whole new meaning on Thursday, September 3 during the Heroes Supporting Heroes event at Oggi's Mission Viejo.

From 5 to 9 pm, local deputies and firefighters will trade their badges for aprons to wait tables and greet guests alongside athletes to benefit Special Olympics.

Bring or mention the flier and 20 percent of your bill will be donated to Special Olympics.

An Orange County Sheriff’s Department unit will be on display, and the event offers a great opportunity to enjoy a nice meal while supporting local athletes.

The program is a core part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), which unites police agencies worldwide to raise awareness and funds for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Oggi’s is located at 24042 Alicia Parkway.

Mama Muffin, a sweet 4-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, has heterochromia—one blue eye and one brown eye—which makes her even more special.

She came to Mission Viejo Animal Services Center through our Mission for Home rescue program after being abandoned in Riverside. Along with her five puppies, Mama Muffin was placed with one of the center’s experienced foster families.

Mama Muffin was a devoted mother to all her puppies (which have since been adopted) and a loving companion to everyone in the foster home. She has a big heart💗— figuratively and literally. Mama Muffin was recently diagnosed with a mild case of Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a condition in which the main pumping chambers of the heart become stretched and enlarged, making it harder for blood to circulate properly. She is now on medication to manage this condition, and fortunately, it may be something she can overcome.

Despite her diagnosis, Mama Muffin remains a calm and gentle sweetheart, showing little impact on her spirit. Her heart is full of love, and she would thrive in a forever home ready to support and care for her through her healing journey.

If you’re interested in giving Mama Muffin a home, contact 949-470-3045 or visit 28095 Hillcrest today.
