Introducing: Pen Pals 4 Seniors!
Did you know that a simple, cheerful note can completely brighten a senior citizen's week?
Local high school senior Ellie has launched a new initiative right here at our library called Pen Pals 4 Seniors. Our mission is to bring joy, warmth, and a sense of connection to elderly residents living in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities through handmade letters.
How YOU Can Participate:
It’s easy! The next time you visit the library, stop by our dedicated Pen Pals 4 Seniors mailboxes located in the children’s and teen areas. Drop in a cheerful card, a drawing, or a kind note to let our local seniors know the community is thinking of them.
Quick Writing Tips:
Keep it positive: Share a favorite story, a drawing, a poem, or a description of a fun hobby.
Make it readable: Write clearly and use a large font.
Sign off simply: Use your first name only (e.g., "Your friend, Sarah").
Please leave envelopes unsealed so our team can screen letters for safety before delivery!
Want to write letters together?
If you are a student in grades 6-12 looking to give back and earn community service hours, join us at the library on Thursday, July 23, 6-8 pm for the Teen Volunteer Club for a letter-making workshop.
Let’s come together to fill our mailboxes and spread kindness across our community. See you at the library!
