We are proud to share that several of our Mission Lions recently completed a full-day certification course to become certified in the use of our vision screening equipment for school screenings.

Congratulations to Lion Luciano, Lion Lee, Lion Tim, Lion Darrell, Lion Nancy, and Lion JoAnn, who all successfully completed the training and earned their certification!

This certification will help our club continue our important mission of providing free vision screenings for children in our schools and helping identify vision issues early so kids can get the care they need to succeed.

Thank you to these dedicated Lions for giving their time and commitment to serving our community. Your willingness to step up and learn this valuable skill truly reflects our motto: We Serve.

Where there is a need, there is a Lion!

Long before modern air travel made the world feel smaller, naval aviator and polar explorer Admiral Richard E. Byrd, Jr. carried the Lions flag to the very ends of the Earth.
A proud member of the Washington D.C. Lions Club, Byrd took the spirit of Lionism with him on his historic flights over both the North Pole and South Pole, showing the world that service, courage, and leadership know no boundaries.
His journey reminds us that being a Lion means more than serving locally — it means carrying hope, compassion, and service wherever we go.

May 1925 during the international convention in Cedar Point, Ohio, Helen Keller charged Lions with
becoming "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness."

Speaking to the Lions, Helen Keller—representing the American Foundation for the Blind—asked the organization to sponsor sight programs and help hasten the day when "there shall be no preventable blindness". This passionate appeal transformed the Lions, cementing vision care and blindness prevention as their primary global mission.

Have you ever wanted to make a real difference in the lives of others?
That’s exactly what being a Lion is all about.

When you join the Mission Lions Club, you become part of a team that serves our community with compassion and purpose. From helping provide eyeglasses for children, supporting food drives, building wheelchair ramps, helping at community events, supporting diabetes awareness, and serving families in need — every act of service matters.

You don’t have to be extraordinary to become a Lion. You simply need a heart for helping others and a desire to serve.

One person really can make a difference… and together, we can change lives.

If you’ve been looking for a way to connect, give back, and be part of something meaningful, we would love to welcome you.
