On Saturday we attended the Kansas City Royals game
on and I was honored to sit in the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat.
I’m grateful for the history, the stories, and the legacy of kindness, courage, and perseverance that Buck O’Neil left for generations to follow.

It was my privilege to join Jared Alvilez and Crystal Ramus in facilitating Johnson County Mental Health Center’s first Mental Health First Aid USA for Military, Veterans, and their Families in Johnson County Kansas.
Together, we’re building awareness, support, and stronger connections for those who have served and the people who stand beside them. 🇺🇸

On Wednesday evening I met with folks from GFF. Showing up for one another matters, especially in the times of uncertainty. Knowing how to respond in a mental health crisis isn’t something we’re always taught, but it’s something that can truly save a life.

That’s why Johnson County Mental Health Center is proud to partner with Go Further Foundation (GFF) to offer FREE Adult Mental Health First Aid trainings throughout 2026 for 100 community members.

Specialty treatment courts strengthen our community by helping people address the root causes of addiction and mental health challenges through accountability, treatment, and support.
I am proud of this team and the work they do! Thanks!

This May, we recognize National Treatment Court Month and the impact specialty courts have in our community. These programs help connect people to treatment, support, and recovery while improving public safety and creating opportunities for lasting change. 💙

Johnson County’s specialty courts include:

• Adult Drug Court
• Behavioral Health Court
• Veterans Treatment Court

These programs provide alternatives to incarceration by focusing on accountability, treatment, rehabilitation, and support.

Thank you to the dedicated staff who help make recovery and second chances possible every day.

Today the Johnson County, KS Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved an agreement between Johnson County Mental Health Center and Johnson County Community College Police Department under the leadership Cheif Seth Mullis to embed a Co-Responder as part of their Mental Health Response Team.
This collaborative approach better supports individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, provides access to resources, and promotes safer, more compassionate outcomes across campus and the community.
