Residents who vote by mail will receive three ballots (one for each party). If you received ballots in the mail, you can return ONE ballot by mail or drop it off at the Elections Center before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.

All absentee voters are required to include both their birth year and signature on their ballot return envelope. Failure to include either detail will cause the ballot to be rejected.

If you are registered to vote absentee and did not receive ballots, please visit the Missoula County Elections Center, 140 N. Russell St. You can also retrieve an undeliverable ballot if the postal service was unable to deliver it.

Polling places will also be open on Election Day for voters who do not choose to receive their ballots in the mail. Look up your polling place online at myvoterpagemt.com. In Missoula County, your precinct is named after the polling place.

After May 26, voters should hand-deliver their ballots to the Elections Center before Election Day. Voters who wait until Election Day to submit their ballots can drop them off at any polling place or at one of our three drive-thru ballot drop locations on Election Day only. These ballot drop locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, and a full list is available at missoula.co/currentelection.

A line for a write-in candidate will only appear if an office has a filed write-in candidate or a write-in line is required by law. If this is the case, a write-in line will be printed below the last candidate for the office.

If a candidate filed as a write-in candidate, their name will not appear on the ballot. Visit https://missoula.co/currentelection for a list of qualified write-in candidates for the May 5, 2026 School/Special District Election.

04/25/2026

Due to a new state law, voters are required to write their birth year on their mail ballot envelope before mailing it or returning it to the Elections Office. The law, effective Oct. 1, 2025, stems from House Bill 719, which the 2025 Legislature passed.

A ballot will be rejected if it does not include both the voter’s signature and birth year.

When a ballot is rejected, staff call or email the voter so they can resolve the issue, if the office has their phone number or email address. A letter is also sent to each voter with a rejected ballot. Voters have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, to correct their rejected ballot by visiting the Elections Office.

The office is located at 140 N. Russell St. in Missoula and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The best way to for voters to verify that their ballot has been accepted is to visit myvoterpagemt.com and click on "Track my Ballot."
Questions or feedback regarding this statewide change are best directed the Secretary of State’s Office at [email protected] or 406-444-9608.

If voters prefer to drop off their ballot in person, the Elections Office offers ballot drop-off inside Building B from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

On Election Day, voters can drop off ballots between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. at one of the eight ballot drop locations throughout the county. A complete list of ballot drop locations is posted on the Current Election page at missoulavotes.gov.
