What movie was filmed on the USS Carl Vinson?🇺🇸🦅
The movie "Top Gun" (1986) was partially filmed on the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The film's iconic aerial dogfight scenes were filmed on the aircraft carrier, and the movie's star, Tom Cruise, also spent time on board the ship to get a feel for life as a naval aviator.
The USS Carl Vinson was chosen as the filming location because of its large size and advanced aircraft carrier capabilities. The ship's crew and aircraft were used in many of the movie's scenes, making it an integral part of the film's production.

Today is the decommissioning of the USCG Dauntless after 56 years of service. Might I suggest a cover photo of her tomorrow in memory. They are laying up several 210's and storing them at the CG yard but I doubt they will ever see service. I'm a plank owner from 68 and we made the trip from Seattle to see the ceremony today."
