I LOVE that the Commissoners go on Newstalk KGVO! My ask is to please go on the show without a guest so that we the people can ask questions without a specific topic. It seems y'all always have a guest... but we want to talk to you three!

I have to defend a caller on Newstalk KGVO Talkback program this morning with the County Commissoners. Commissoner Slotnick implied that they NEVER had a bid preference program that was based on race and gender.

That bid preference program was the main reason I ran for County Auditor.

Here is the article of the program, and the second link is Commissoner Slotnick's op-ed that says "we're racist".

Just want to remind the folks to hold your elected officials accountable for their actions and words!

Edit to add Missoula County, Montana - Government 😁🇺🇲

I also edited to delete the reason the call ended. It was polite as always; I was just a little fired up this morning when posting - which is different than usual in my retirement!

Missoula County on Thursday moved closer to passing a measure giving preference to bids submitted by women and minority owned businesses, saying it was necessary to “level the playing field.” Opponents described the move as sexist and racist.

Want to help a neighbor occasionally? Consider being a Snow Angel!

https://www.volunteermissoula.org/need/detail/?need_id=1005735

Ages between 4-110 are encouraged to apply!

This program partners neighbors who are able to shovel walkways with those who are unable or struggle to. ❄️☃️

Many older adults and those with disabilities aren't physically able to shovel snow or have someone they can ask for help. They run the risk of in-the-city fines if it isn’t done, not to mention the safety hazard.

Thank you to all of my colleagues and constituents for an amazing 6 year tenure! While I'll miss my position, I am quite ready to not be so stressed out all of the time - please continue to keep an eye on your local government, and be involved! 🇺🇸

Sandra Vasecka on Monday night attended what was her last City Council meeting, one where her peers shared their praises and memories of the last few years.

Mountain Line tax

HB764 took effect on Oct. 1, 2025 (for additional info see recent Missoulian article from Oct. 24, by Griffen Smith). The new statutes enable property owners to petition out of the Missoula Urban Transportation District (MUTD), a.k.a. Mountain Line bus, if not receiving direct service within 1.5 miles (as the crow flies) of a taxed property in the last five years. Most, if not all, residents who live within Nextdoor’s “Golden West Neighborhood” boundary qualify for removal from the MUTD and the associated property tax. There may be other properties on the outskirts of Missoula that qualify as well, such as upper Miller Creek and the Wye area. Currently the New Meadows and Golden West subdivisions have successfully petitioned out of the MUTD and the tax has been removed from their bills (the assessment on homes in these subdivisions ranged from $300-$700 annually). More petitions are underway as other subdivisions or streets that likely qualify for removal are Stillwaters subdivision, Ranch Club/Phantom Hills subdivision, Country Crest subdivision, El Mar Estates, Lazy H Trail, Cresthaven Dr, Wentland Ct, Council Way, Douglas Dr, Kelly Island Ct, Kootenai Dr, Frey Ln, Homestead Dr, Topaz Dr, Riverwalk Estates, Dino Ct, Mullan Trail subdivision, Emerald Dr, Shindig Dr, and Katoonah Lodges.

Petitions for removal can be submitted in one of two ways: 1) An individual property can be removed with 51% of registered voters signing at that address. 2) A group of property owners can be removed with 51% of registered voters signing from homes in a defined area (i.e. subdivision). A petition template and instructions (developed in accordance with current state statutes) are available by sending me a direct message with your email address.

The decision to de-annex from the MUTD is a personal one and this post is intended to share new information. If you are uncertain how much of your property tax goes to Mountain Line, look at the Special Districts section of your property tax bill, under Urban Transportation District (the MUTD includes both city and county properties). If you don’t see this designation on your tax bill, then you are not in the district.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the years! The election results were disappointing, but I always seem to land on my feet. It has been a great honor and a privilege to serve my community for the past 6 years! I'm proud of my service, and thankful to my family for dealing with all the stress that came with the job.

I'm also very happy that I was able accomplish sidewalk payment reform as well as adding a second public comment period before my term ends!!

Thank you all, and please continue to be involved in local politics! 🇺🇲

Here's my forum from last week. I'm embarrassed because when I repeated the language of "affordable housing" and "workforce housing" I meant to point out that it is "susbsidized" housing (paid for by property tax dollars). Thats all fine and dandy if thats what we're doing, but let's just call it what it is, and then we can have honest conversations.

Due to changes in Montana law that went into effect on Oct. 1, all voters in Montana are now required to write both their birth year and signature on the affirmation envelope. A ballot will be rejected if it does not include both the voter’s signature and birth year.

The Missoula County Elections Office mailed approximately 77,833 ballots for the Nov. 4 municipal general election to all active and provisionally registered voters in the City of Missoula and Missoula County.

This is an all-mail election for Missoula mayor, City Council wards 1 through 6, municipal judge districts 1, 2 and 3, and a countywide infrastructure mill levy. Registered voters who live outside city limits will only have the mill levy on their ballots. Information about the levy is available at missoulacountyvoice.com. Sample ballots and list of candidates can be viewed at missoulavotes.com.

Voters must return their ballots to the Elections Center by 8 p.m. on Election Day; postmarks are not sufficient.
