Today we pray for Uvalde as they return to school. Our hearts are with you .
Fort bend AFT represents all non-administrative certified and classified public school employees. 2,220 members strong and growing.
Being apart of Fort bend AFT allows a lot of opportunities for our union members to grow and become successful for future years to come. Representing classified and certified personnel at all 77 FBISD building sites. Office staff includes: Three full-time and three part-time employees to focus on meeting the needs of all of our members and promoting safe and professional work environments within the district.
Representing:
Custodial, maintenance, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, paraprofessionals, peace officers, resident subs, and all chapter 21 employees. All others may contact our offices at 281.240.1865 and speak with Anthony Lacsamana or Blanca Florencia to verify possible application status. No administrator need apply, as within AFT it is considered a conflict of interest to represent both sides of the table.
Today we pray for Uvalde as they return to school. Our hearts are with you .

Representing Texas and Fort Bend AFT in Puerto Rico at the National LULAC Conference. Giving books to children and learning about integrating equity, social Justice , and gun safety in our demand for RESPECT in our working conditions in Fort Bend.
We want RESPECT 💪🏽
Fort Bend teachers, school personnel, and community leaders came together this morning to demand that Fort Bend ISD shows respect for frontline workers.
This month, Fort Bend ISD trustees will vote to approve the district 2022/2023 annual budget. After two challenging years during the pandemic, and in the wake of the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, the nearly $1 billion budget represents an opportunity for the district to show their respect for the teachers, school personnel, and everyone who works to provide our students with the best education possible
In order to fulfill the mission of the district to “...Inspire and Equip all students to pursue futures beyond what they can imagine,” Fort Bend ISD must ensure that fair compensation, safe working conditions, and adequate support for all workers in Fort Bend ISD are top priorities in ‘22/’23 budget.
It's time for Fort Bend ISD to respect all of the workers in our district, starting from the day schools are built, through the time students graduate, every school employee has an impact on the quality of students' education.

More about last night ! This is the initial group that showed up last night , However, we later filled up the board room and overflowed to the lobby. It was a great showing . Let’s overflow to the parking lot on May 16.
Last night members stepped up to voice our concerns over the proposed salary increases which essentially puts our teachers and staff further behind the 8.5% inflation by offering 2 -3% increases with no retention stipend. The disrespect was deafening but they did hear us. And we will keep using our voices until they show us RESPECT by providing:
Raises that we deserve
Expectation that are reasonable
Support for discipline issues
Planning time respected
Eliminate excessive duties
Cap student / teacher ratios
Trust our professional expertise
Calling all members to join this fight . We need good teachers and staff to stay. For that to happen , we need RESPECT.
Together we can do this !
Elections are important to US! Remember to VOTE!

Great news! Although, the FBISD lawyers insist that mask mandates are illegal ( working on that challenge), the Board of Trustees tonight did vote to increase COVID sick leave to 10 days and it will be retro active to the beginning of the school year. Thank you, Angie Hanan, for making the motion for the leave increase and for supporting our teacher and staff. Thanks to all Board Members who worked through the language to ensure that our teachers and staff are covered.

We are very tired but excited that the Fort Bend ISD BOT voted to mandate mask for all students and staff. Thanks to all the members that came out to support this effort and special thanks to Michelle Menon who made a strong and heartfelt speech asking for the BOT to protect her and her students. Also thank you to Jim Rice, Angie Hanan, Dr Shirley Rose-Gilliam, and Denetta Williams for siding with safety and doing the right thing.
Now we work on enforcement , on COVID leave days, on testing to avoid forced quarantines, and on stringent COVID cleaning protocols for Buses and classrooms. These safety issue will continue to be our objective in order to keep students and staff safe .
“Every student in Fort Bend ISD deserves a safe learning environment, and every worker - teachers, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, all of us - deserves a safe working environment.
We’re disappointed that our leadership in Fort Bend ISD have decided to ignore the concerns of the community and the safety of our kids.”
- Fort Bend Employee Federation President Glenda Macal

Thank you to all Houston-area leaders coming together and representing our future. With hospitals filling up due to COVID-19 cases, a mask mandate should be immediately implemented to keep our children and staff safe. The delta variant is spreading quicker than expected and this gives us more reason to receive vaccinations and a mask mandate. Thank you to
