Hispanic Heritage Month is here! Since 1989, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time for Americans who identify as Hispanic to celebrate the traditions and history unique to their cultural background. Even if you don’t consider yourself Hispanic, Latino, or Latinx, you can still seize the opportunity to learn more about the cultures of the 21 Spanish-speaking countries and territories honored during these four weeks. We’ll be sharing a variety of local activities to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, and we hope you have lots of fun exploring and learning! Did you know: Hispanic Heritage Month starts on September 15 because it is a key date in the history of several Latin American countries? It’s when Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua declared their independence from Spain in 1821.
