The weather tomorrow is not going to cooperate with firefighters! Expect a sudden shift of the wind- changing direction from the south to high gusts from the north as the front crosses our state. Very dry conditions continue, with parts of our state not seeing any measurable precipitation for 90 days. This means that not only will the dormant grass readily burn, but trees and other vegetation will also quickly ignite and be consumed. Please be careful!

MCRFD3 recently applied for and was awarded a grant from the Solomon Valley Community Foundation for a HyperSight Infra-Red vehicle mounted camera.
This device will allow a driver to see through thick smoke to detect dangerous hot spots, obstacles, and other vehicles while fighting wildfires.
We want to thank Solomon Valley Community Foundation for their generous award as it will greatly enhance the safety of our firefighters during fast moving vegetation fires.

Truck 676 is currently under construction. Notably, while external resources are utilized for certain aspects of truck projects, a significant portion of these builds is completed by department members during their personal time. In light of the current high prices, every contribution, no matter how small, is beneficial. Truck 676 has reliably pulled our 5500-gallon trailer for several years but has transitioned roles and will now carry 2750 gallons, enhancing its maneuverability. The 5500-gallon trailer has been paired with a new power unit, which has also been part of the department for some time.
