Adventure was calling!

Recently, one of our Rapid City foster families checked two Black Hills icons off their bucket list with some of their very first visits to Mount Rushmore and Bear Country. The day was filled with fun and plenty of memories in the making.

For many of the youth we serve, opportunities like these are about more than just a fun day out. They help build confidence, create positive memories, and give kids the chance to simply be kids.

We're grateful for our amazing foster parents who make moments like these possible!

At 15, Megan arrived at Abbott House carrying more trauma than most people experience in a lifetime. She had lost her mother, struggled with suicidal thoughts, and believed she wouldn't live to see adulthood.

Today, Megan is 30 years old, a mother, a social worker, and someone who is using her own experiences to help others heal.

Her story is a powerful reminder that with the right support, hope can grow even in the hardest circumstances.

One of our foster families is getting ready to grow a garden this summer thanks to a generous donation of railroad ties from Boom Construction & Development in Rapid City.

The kids worked hard to help load up the ties, bring them back to the home, and help get everything set up for the new garden space. It was a great teamwork project and the kids were excited to be part of creating something together at the house.

After all their hard work, the group made a stop at Armadillo's Ice Cream Shoppe for a cool treat to celebrate!

Every child deserves a safe place to belong.

This National Foster Care Month, we're sharing the story of two of our foster parents and the reasons they chose to open their hearts and home to youth in need.

Right now, there are approximately 1737 children in foster care in South Dakota and only 793 licensed foster homes with families available to care for them. The need for caring adults continues to grow.

Foster parents come from all walks of life, but they share one thing in common: a willingness to make a difference in the life of a child.

Thank you to the foster families who help youth find hope and healing every day. 💙

The girls in Mitchell spent some time outside this week planting seeds in the flower pots they painted a few weeks ago.

This project has been such a fun way for the girls to express their creativity and spend time outdoors together. Now comes the exciting part, waiting to see what starts to bloom over the next few weeks!
