Halloween decorating is underway at Abbott House East!

The girls have been busy transforming our hallways and doors with their Halloween creations, and these pictures are just a sneak peek. There are plenty more projects in the works!

We love giving our youth the opportunity to decorate their home and make it their own. It gives them a sense of ownership and pride in the space where they live. And if you walk through our halls, you'll never have to wonder if kids live here. That's exactly how we like it!

A little kindness can go a long way, even across the miles!

Two young ladies at Abbott House West recently began volunteering with Letters Against Isolation, an organization that helps bring joy and connection to older adults who may be experiencing loneliness and isolation.

The girls spent time writing letters, coloring pictures and sharing words of encouragement that will be delivered to nursing home residents across the country.

We love seeing our youth find ways to make a difference in the lives of others. Sometimes something as simple as a handwritten letter can brighten someone's entire day!

Last week, a group of girls and staff from Abbott House East joined three generations of the Muth family for a little community cleanup around Lake Mitchell!

Together, they spent time picking up litter along Turtle Trail and some of the other lakeside trails, helping keep these beautiful spaces clean for everyone to enjoy.

We love seeing our youth get involved in the community and take pride in making a difference. Thank you to the Muth family for including our girls in a great day of giving back!

Turning 18 doesn't mean every young person is ready to face the world on their own.

Through Abbott House's Independent Living Program, youth learn important life skills while having people in their corner to support them along the way.

Dakota News Now recently visited with Sergio, a young man in our program, and Beacy Nelson, our program director, about what that support looks like and why it matters.

A lesson in biology turned into a chance to make a difference.

Two youth at Abbott House West were learning about the human impact on the environment and asked if they could organize a cleanup day.

That idea quickly turned into a morning outside, with youth working together to clean up the area and put what they were learning into action.

We love seeing our youth take the lead and find ways to make a positive impact.
