Good afternoon, Soaring Eagle Faculty, Staff, and Families!

As we closely monitor the potential impact of Hurricane Isaias, our top priority remains the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and families.

At Morningside Elementary School, we know that preparation is key! We encourage everyone to take the necessary precautions now to ensure that you and your loved ones are safe and prepared for possible severe weather.

⛈️ HURRICANE SAFETY REMINDERS

🏠 Prepare Your Home: Secure outdoor furniture and loose items, charge electronic devices, and have flashlights and extra batteries available.

🎒 Have an Emergency Kit Ready: Include bottled water, nonperishable food, medications, important documents, and other essential supplies.

📱 Stay Connected: Monitor trusted weather updates and official announcements from MCPSS regarding any school closures, schedule changes, or other important information.

🚗 Avoid Unnecessary Travel: Never attempt to drive through flooded roads or standing water. Remember, *Turn Around, Don't Drown!*

❤️ Check on One Another: Let's look out for our neighbors, elderly family members, and anyone who may need additional assistance.

🦅 TO OUR SOARING EAGLE FAMILIES

Please continue to monitor the MCPSS App, official district communications, and our Morningside Elementary page for updates.

Any changes to school operations will be communicated through official channels.

Stay safe, Soaring Eagles! We want every Eagle back in the Nest safe and sound 💙🦅

Dear ,
As Superintendent, I must make all decisions with the safety and well-being of our students and employees in mind. We all know and recognize that weather conditions can be unpredictable and forecasts may change quickly.

After careful consideration of the latest weather information and the potential for inclement weather in our area, I cannot risk anyone’s safety, as again, the weather conditions currently remain extremely unpredictable. Therefore, all Mobile County Public Schools campuses and offices will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2026. I completely understand that closing schools can create challenges for families, and I do not take that impact lightly.

I appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we navigate circumstances that are ultimately beyond our control. Please continue to monitor official MCPSS communication platforms for any additional information or updates.
