EMS WEEK 2026

Established in 1974, EMS Week was created to recognize the critical role EMS professionals play in our communities—on every call, every shift, every day.

Over the years, the job has changed. The calls have gotten more complex. The expectations higher. The tones continue dropping before you’ve even had a chance to sit down. It’s the calls that run long—and the ones you wish had gone longer.
It’s walking into someone’s worst day and being expected to have answers, control, and calm…every single time.

But one thing hasn’t—The people.

The ones who show up.
The ones who adapt, lead, teach, and keep moving the profession forward.

And the Alabama EMS Conference exists because of that same thing —It’s you.

The feedback.
The attendance.
The conversations.
The willingness to keep learning and getting better.

That’s what makes this conference what it is—and what keeps it growing year after year.

So during EMS Week, we don’t just recognize the work…

We invest back into it.

We’re giving away a free registration to the Alabama EMS Conference.

A chance to be in the room, build on your skills, and be part of what continues to move EMS forward in this state.

When it comes to stroke, every second matters, and the response begins before a patient reaches the hospital. On WKRG's The Doctor Is In, Travis B. Goodloe III, M.D., an emergency medicine physician with USA Health, discusses the critical partnership between EMS teams and hospital providers in delivering rapid, lifesaving stroke care. From the importance of calling 911 at the first sign of symptoms to the role of pre-hospital notification and field interventions, Dr. Goodloe explains how coordinated emergency response can improve outcomes for patients facing stroke and other time-sensitive emergencies.
