After decades on local tv screens across Mobile, the one and only Darwin Singleton will sign off from NBC 15 News tonight for the final time.

This afternoon, Chief Jackson thanked him for his years of service to our community and awarded him several items to remember us by as he enters retirement.

Congratulations to Mobile Police Department Citizens Academy Class 35! This group of 20 citizens graduated last night during a special recognition ceremony with their families in attendance.

The Citizens Police Academy gives residents an up-close look at what police officers do and an understanding of how the department operates. The academy meets once a week for 10 weeks.

“Just wanted to share this. My wife broke down on the Bayway at 6am today. She had our 5 month old great grandson with her and morning traffic was terrible. She managed to get vehicle on the side out of traffic and called me and 911 fearing getting hit from behind. I arrived around 30mins later and the officers had already arrived. They called for a wrecker and stayed until they picked up our vehicle. I want everyone to know that police do way more than chase criminals. They do protect and serve our community. THANK YOU TO OUR HEROES IN BLUE!”
